[Legal Updates] Key Legislative Drafts Undergo Committee Review

From September 8th to 12th, the 17th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) was held in Beijing, during which multiple draft laws were deliberated.

The meeting continued its review of drafts including the Arbitration Law, the Food Safety Law, the Hazardous Chemicals Safety Law, the General Provisions section of the Ecological Environment Code, and the Ecological Protection section. It also conducted the first review of draft amendments to the Cybersecurity Law, the Enterprise Bankruptcy Law, the Environmental Protection Tax Law, and others.

Regarding the second review draft of the Hazardous Chemicals Safety Law, it stipulates that the state will establish and improve a hazardous chemicals catalog management system, encourages relevant units and personnel to report accident hazards, and concurrently provides legal rewards for doing so. It also clarifies the application of this Law in relation to regulations governing the transport of dangerous goods.
