On May 21, A&Z Law Firm was invited by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) to deliver a lecture at the Sino-Spanish Campus at Tongji University in Shanghai. The lecture was aimed at providing insights into the nuances of doing business in China.

The lecture was held by Mr. Andrew Zhang, a Senior Partner at A&Z. His discourse was particularly focused on the three critical stages of an enterprise’s life cycle in the Chinese market.

In the preliminary stage, Mr. Zhang emphasized the importance of selecting the appropriate structure for your business. He discussed the pros and cons of various business structures such as Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise (WFOE), Joint Venture (JV), and Representative Office (RO).

During the operations stage, he highlighted several crucial issues that businesses should be aware of. These included the importance of contract signing, the potential for infringement of Intellectual Property Rights, HR issues, and the need for ensuring cyberspace, data, and personal information security in China.

Finally, regarding the exit stage, Mr. Zhang focused on the topics of dissolution, liquidation, and bankruptcy of a company in China.

The lecture provided valuable insights and practical legal advice on how to navigate the complex landscape of the Chinese market. It underscored A&Z Law Firm’s commitment to sharing its expertise and fostering international exchanges of ideas.
